TOPIC OF ANDREW WOMMACK DEVOTIONAL FOR 28TH NOVEMBER 2022 IS ‘YOU’RE NOT ALONE IN PERSECUTION

Luke 23:11 And Herod with his warring soldiers made sport of him, dressed him in fine apparel, and sent him back to Pilate.

CLOSE READING OF TEXT: LUKE 23:11

All of Christ’s sufferings did not end when He concluded His earthly ministry.

Still, He takes the persecution of His people personally, as evidenced by His words to Saul on the road to Damascus: “Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?” But Jesus didn’t bother to inquire as to why Paul was attacking His followers. In other words, he asked, “Why are you persecuting Me?” When we suffer persecution because of our commitment to righteous living, it is Christ who is being persecuted.

The thought that God has abandoned you is one of the most devastating outcomes of persecution.

You do realize that God could end this oppression if He so desired, right?

This means that He is unconcerned. The Devil would have us believe that so he can successfully manipulate us.

Persecution may come, but the Lord is on your side. If you keep this in mind, you won’t give in to discouragement when trouble comes your way.

True Christianity is exactly the opposite of the whole-world system. We are headed in a selfless route, while the world is distracted with self. Jesus instructs us to love, while the world is full of hate. The world is full of people who will injure us if we don’t do as we’re told and turn the other cheek. The world and Christianity are in battle. The only reason a Christian would not endure persecution is if he is headed in the same path as an unbeliever. We can expect to run into Satan when we choose God’s path.

When Christians are persecuted today, Christ is still being persecuted.

He will continue to do so until the creation of His actual kingdom.
